The Giesbrecht Family — Christian country gospel band from La Crete, Alberta

Giesbrecht Family Band: Christian Country Gospel Music

The Giesbrecht Family is a family band from La Crete, Alberta, Canada, performing together since 2016. All 12 take their turn on stage. The main band includes the oldest 5 children and their parents!

The family hopes you will be inspired you to praise the LORD as you listen to their music! They love performing with stringed instruments and an array of vocal compilations and harmonies.

Music festivals · Rodeos · Hospitals · Seniors homes · Fundraisers · Churches · And anywhere else God calls them.

What You'll Hear

At the present time the band ensemble includes acoustic, bass and electric guitars, dobro, violin, piano, keys/synth, harmonica, ukulele and drums. All the members of the family take turns leading the vocals or singing harmony. With a large growing family there is also always the need for someone to be on baby sitting duty! Sometimes things can get a bit entertaining! Jeremiah and Melanie have also served as Youth Leaders at the local church and Jeremiah also served as a Song/Worship Leader for many years.

Our Story

Jeremiah met Melanie at a Music Festival in northern Alberta. It was love at first sight. They were enjoying the music when they providentially bumped into each other at the show. "It was something we both never felt or experienced before". The lingering eye contact was life changing! "I knew she was the one" says Jeremiah. "And we never would've guessed that years later we would be singing at Music Jamborees"!

Fast forward 2 years, they were married and started their own family. Jeremiah ran a small forestry company (still does) and Melanie kept the fort at home. She home schools the children and teaches them life skills. It has grown to a busy home with 10 children. Music is a regular part of the day practicing and preparing for the next show. They aim to serve God through music and hope to inspire others to worship and serve Him. The oldest 2 children(Hadassah and Elijah) currently help Jeremiah in their forestry business.

Melanie grew up singing with her Mom's family. Her family recorded albums and also sang at churches and music festivals.

Growing up, Jeremiah had little musical training, but often sang with his brother at campfires taking turns with lead vocals and harmonies. His mom gifted him a guitar at the age of 16, ordered from a Sears catalog. He wrote songs immediately upon learning how to play.

From the age of 16 to 38, Jeremiah worked in the woods, often alone, surveying logging cut blocks and providing off-road transportation for tree planting operations. When he would come home and hear Melanie and the girls singing together in the kitchen he knew their musical gift must be shared!

Their call to music was confirmed by others suggesting that they perform music as a family. Alone out in the forest, Jeremiah realized God's call on the family to serve Him through music.

They believe that God is calling them to "Keep Singing For Jesus" as a family, aiming to spread his love and the Good News of everlasting life through song!
