The Giesbrecht Family is a family band from La Crete, located in Northern Alberta, Canada. They have been performing together since 2016, and have slowly been expanding into full time ministry which involves the entire family! The Lord has blessed them with nine precious children thus far, with another one on the way!
There are youngsters on the stage playing instruments and singing harmonies in Country Gospel style.
They love performing at campgrounds, music festivals, hospitals, seniors homes, fundraisers, and churches and anywhere else God calls them. It requires work and sacrifice, but if you do what you love, it doesn’t feel like work! The blessings are always worth it!
A dynamic group that loves playing, performing and recording modern Bluegrass and Inspirational music, The Giesbrecht Family band are sure to sure to inspire you to worship God in a Country Bluegrass way!
At the present time the band ensemble includes acoustic, bass and electric guitars, dobro, violin, piano, keys/synth, harmonica, ukulele and drums.
All the members of the family (besides the baby) take turns leading the vocals or singing harmony. With a large growing family there is also always the need for someone to be on baby sitting duty! Sometimes things can get a bit crazy!
Jeremiah and Melanie have also served as Youth Leaders at the local church and Jeremiah also served as a Worship Leader for many years.
Jeremiah(The Dad of the group) met Melanie(The Mom) at a small town Gospel Music Festival in northern Alberta, Canada. It was love at first sight. They were enjoying the music when they providentially bumped into each other at the show. It was something we both never felt or experienced before. The look in each others eyes and the lingering eye contact was life changing! “I knew she was the one” says the Dad Jeremiah. “And we never would’ve guessed we would be singing together at Music Jamborees, in the same setting where we met”!
Fast forward 2 years, they were married and started their own family. Jeremiah ran a small forestry company and Melanie kept the fort at home. She home schools the children and teaches them life skills. It has grown to a busy home with 9 children. Music is a regular part of the day practicing and preparing for the next show. They aim to serve God through music and hope to inspire others to worship and serve Him. Jeremiah recently sold his forestry business to serve full time in the music ministry.
Melanie grew up singing with her Mom’s family. Her family had a few recorded albums and they sang at church and music festivals.
Growing up, Jeremiah had little musical training, but his mom made him sing with his brother and he learned singing harmonies with him. His mom gifted him a guitar at the age of 16, ordered from a Sears catalog. He would write songs almost immediately upon learning how to play. He has written many songs including, Love Found Me, Higher, and Heaven’s Gift by The Giesbrecht Family.
From the age of 16 to 38, Jeremiah worked in the woods, often alone, surveying logging cut blocks and providing off-road transportation for tree planting operations.
When he would come home and hear Melanie and the girls sing together at the kitchen sink as they cleaned the dishes he thought it sounded heavenly! They were still so little, and he couldn’t believe the harmonies! He knew he had to share those sounds with everyone!
Their call to music was confirmed by others suggesting that they perform music as a family. Alone out in the forest, he eventually realized God’s call on the family to worship and praise Him through music.
They believe that God is calling them to “Keep Singing For Jesus” as a family and they aim to spread his love and the Good News of everlasting life through song!
God is an Amazing Creator and Saviour! Every single person in this world should have the privilege of knowing and loving Him!
